FLOW + FORM - Drop In

A dynamic practice that combines creative, flowing movement with structured sequences, building both strength and flexibility through mindful transitions. Students will explore the balance between disciplined form and expressive freedom, cultivating both physical skill and deeper awareness in their practice.

Each class is structured around a physical and anatomical theme that we explore for 2-3 weeks.

Classes may also include a selection and combination of the following elements in reverence to the holistic nature of yoga:

  • Yogic Wisdom Talk

  • Mantra Chanting & Harmonium Playing

  • Pranayama Practice

  • Guided Meditation

Open Level: Welcoming to students with some yoga experience, from those building their foundation to experienced practitioners. The class includes foundational poses with options to explore more challenging variations. Modifications and progressions are offered throughout, allowing each student to work at their own pace and skill level. Previous yoga experience is preferable, as this class is not designed for true beginners.

What to Expect:

  • A short introductory talk on the session's theme

  • A guided vinyasa flow movement practice with emphasis on breath and movement coordination

  • Personalized guidance, modifications, and hands-on adjustments

FUNCTION - Drop In

THERAPEUTIC FORM + FUNCTION

A therapeutic-minded class that emphasizes precise alignment and structural integrity, drawing from Katonah yoga's metaphorical approach to understand the body's architecture and yoga therapy principles for healing. Through mindful attention to form and function, students will build strength, stability, and awareness while addressing individual needs and imbalances.

Each class is structured around a physical and anatomical theme that we explore for 2-3 weeks: alignment, mobility, stability and release of spine, back, hips, shoulders, necks and main articulations.

Class Levels:

  • Open to all

What to Expect:

  • A short introductory talk on the session's physical and anatomical theme
  • A postural practice with emphasis on alignment and structural integrity using props such as blocks, blankets or straps as necessary
  • Personalized guidance, modifications, and hands-on adjustments

Drop-In Rates:

    • First-time students: $25
    • Regular drop-in rate: $30

Fresh Start: A Morning of Intention-Setting Yoga for FASNY

Begin the new year with clarity and purpose! Join us for an uplifting morning of mindful movement and community connection while supporting a wonderful cause.

This all-levels and all-inclusive class will help you connect with your intentions for 2025. You'll learn accessible breathing techniques and energizing yoga postures that open your heart, strengthen your core, and ground your aspirations—setting the foundation for a year of growth and positive change.

What to Expect:

  • Welcome

  • Breath awareness and intention-setting practice

  • Gentle warm-up movements

  • Standing and seated postures to build strength and focus

  • Rest with live acoustic accompaniment

  • Time: 9:00 AM sharp (please arrive 10 minutes early)

  • Level: All levels welcome—no prior yoga experience necessary

Meet Your Instructor:

Hélène Roy is a registered yoga teacher and FASNY parent. She is a regular teacher at Kaia Yoga in Mamaroneck and offers group and private classes at her own studio, the Surya Yoga Shala, in Rye's Greenhaven neighborhood. She also hosts retreats in the Catskills every Fall and in Bordeaux, in the Summer. Before transitioning to yoga, Hélène worked in finance and economic development in NYC. Originally from Bordeaux, France, she has two children at FASNY: Claire in PreK and Pierre in 3rd Grade.

Come as you are and leave feeling energized and inspired, while contributing to our school community.

Special Year's End Flow + Chat & Chai - Drop In

Join us for a special year-end gathering to honor your practice and celebrate the year together as a community. This extended session combines our signature dynamic vinyasa flow with time for reflection, connection, and celebration.

We'll flow through creative sequences that invite you to look back on your growth this year while setting intentions for the year ahead—balancing disciplined form with expressive freedom, and cultivating both physical skill and deeper awareness.

What to Expect:

  • A reflective opening to honor the year's journey
  • A 60-minute guided vinyasa flow practice with emphasis on breath, movement coordination, and mindful transitions
  • Harmonium playing and live music

Chai & treats served afterward! Please plan to stay and connect with fellow students as we celebrate the year together
